Fellowship and Fun

There are several ways to meet people at Faith.  Here are a few easy steps:

  1. Come to Sunday School (9:15 am) and bring your kids.
If you want to really make some close friends, this is the best way.  You form deep bonds of friendship when you study God's word together, discuss what it means for your daily life, and learn from the insights of others.  Your children also need to form these bonds with their peers and with our loving Sunday school teachers. Then stay for worship (10:30 am) in our kid-friendly service.  Nothing uplifts the family more than worshiping God together on a regular basis.
  2. Join one (or more) of our many smaller fellowship groups:
LIFT, Choir, FLW-Circles, Women's and Men's Bible Study, Friendly Folks, College Groups (Ratio Christi and LSF), Campers, or Piecemakers. A description of each of these groups is given below.  Call the church office if you have questions.

Come join us and become interconnected so we may ALL serve God effectively.

LIFT (Lutherans in Fellowship Together)

The purpose of LIFT is to take our faith out into the community through fun and fellowship. It is a time to fellowship with other members of the Faith Church family that you may not normally have an opportunity to visit with. The outreach is inviting others to be included in these activities. What a great way to show folks out in the community that Christians can get together outside of the church setting and have a great time! This activity is intended for adults, from college age and up.

Choir

Do you like to sing? If so, please consider joining the choir.  A wide variety of musical talent is brought together each week and more voices are always welcome.  The Choir meets Wednesdays 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the choir loft in the sanctuary.

Faith Lutheran Women

All women of the congregation are encouraged and invited to join the Faith Lutheran Women at any time during the year where opportunities exists for fellowship, faith building and services.  The society meets four times during the year (includes all 4 circles) and during the remaining months the circles meet individually.  Call the church office if you have any questions about FLW.

The women's circles meet at various times to accommodate work or difficulties getting out in the evening. Our women engage in events for spiritual and social growth. They also provide for various mission needs all over the world.

  • Circle of Love meets every third Monday at 5:30 p.m.
  • Circle of Faith meets every second Tuesday at 10 a.m.
  • Circle of Charity meets every third Monday at 10 a.m.

Women's Weekly Bible Study every Tuesday at 12 noon.

This is a small group of women that come together every Tuesday at noon for Bible Study and fellowship during the lunch hour.  This study is geared for women who work outside the home so that they can attend during their mid-day break.  If you feel a need to spend some time with the Lord and study His word, please join this group for women.  If you have any questions, please speak with Jean Boettner.

Men's Fellowship Breakfast

These men meet every Thursday morning at 7 a.m. at the church. This is a time where they meet together and informally review inspirational matter (Scripture or otherwise) and share with each other.

Friendly Folks

These mature friends meet every first Thursday of the month from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. to play games and socialize.

College Ministry

Lutheran Student Fellowhip (LSF) - LSF reaches out to university students at Sam Houston State University during regular school semesters. The group meets in conjunction with the SHSU chapter of Ratio Christi every Thursday evening in the Chemistry and Forensic Science Building (CFS) Room 123 on the SHSU campus at 6:00 p.m. for fellowship activities and discussion.  For more information, see www.facebook.com/RatioChristiSHSU or www.ratiochristi.org/shsu.

Campers

Do you like to be in the great outdoors? Whether you have a tent, pop-up camper, trailer or motorhome, we welcome you to join us!  There are at least three camp outs each year. A theme is always picked for each camp out. Join us for Bible study, games, sitting by the campfire, fishing, hiking, etc. We usually pick one meal during the camp out where everyone brings something that goes along with the theme. EVERYONE is welcome to join us! The more, the merrier!

The Piecemakers (Quilters)

Do you like to sew or quilt? Join us on the third Tuesday of the month at the church at 9:00 a.m.
