Pastor James Jennings
When James first began the SMP program, he was the constant "face" at the Missouri City Campus of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland, Texas. He was the main pastoral presence at that campus even before he entered the Specific Ministry Program. He has done everything from music to liturgy to preaching.
James has been with Faith for the past 14 months and was previously the Vicar and Director of Music for the Missouri City Campus of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland, Texas for 5 years. Prior to Epiphany, he served as Director of Music & Worship Arts at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church in Sugar Land, Texas for 7 years. James has both a Bachelor of Music Degree and a Master of Science Degree from the Hartt School of Music and the University of New York, respectively.
James has been singing with the Houston Grand Opera chorus since 1996 and has taught vocal master classes and clinics from Canada to Texas, concentrating on proper sound production and vocal blending techniques. With a background in musical theater, James has performed up and down the east coast and has many leading roles on his resume.
James has always felt a calling to church music, having a church job since high school, and assistant director positions throughout college. He feels it is important to create the atmosphere that is needed for people to meet God at worship and then connect them to God and His lifesaving Word. Music plays a large part in this task.
James believes that it is his calling to help God’s people develop the spiritual gifts God has given them and continue to lead them in their walk with the Lord, spiritually, as well as musically.
James Jennings says he has been blessed to be married to his wife Krista for 15 years this November. They have two sons, Aaron James Jennings who is 8 and Noah Robert Jennings who turns 6 this summer! They are beautiful boys and have a deep love for Jesus!
He added, he and his family feel truly blessed to be part of the family here at Faith Lutheran Church and School and is very excited about the possibilities to show God’s incredible love here in the future!
